Kitsap Bank recently presented over $30,000 in donations to nine local food bank affiliates. During the months of September and October, the Bank hosted nine “From Shred to Fed” events around the region. The public was invited to bring their outdated and sensitive records to various Kitsap Bank branches for secure destruction, while making a donation to their local food bank in return. Combined with the bank’s corporate donations, Kitsap Bank generated more than $45,000 in 2020 for local food banks in Kitsap, Jefferson, Clallam and Pierce counties.

“We were very pleased to partner with the local food banks to give back to our communities,” stated Charles Robertson, Senior Vice President, Retail Banking. “Over one hundred of our employees came out to volunteer during these events with a shared goal to raise awareness of the needs right here at home, and also to be able to support our food banks during this very challenging time.”

The non-profits that benefitted from Kitsap Bank’s “From Shred to Fed” Events are:

  • Bremerton Foodline
  • Central Kitsap Food Bank
  • Fish Food Bank
  • Helpline House
  • North Kitsap Fishline
  • Port Angeles Food Bank
  • Port Townsend Food Bank
  • Sequim Food Bank
  • South Kitsap Helpline

“At Kitsap Bank, we believe that growth starts right here in our local communities. We are invested in supporting our local neighbors, giving back to those who need it most” stated Steve Politakis, Chief Executive Officer. “It was my privilege to be able to go out with our employees to volunteer at the shred events; witnessing first-hand the positive impact these non-profits make on our neighbors and friends.”

Kitsap Bank’s community giving commitment stretches back to its beginnings over 112 years ago, providing consistent support to area non-profits even throughout economic downturns.  Over the past five years, Kitsap Bank has invested well over $2 million back into the community through sponsorships, donations, and volunteer activities. In 2020, Kitsap Bank is on track to donate well over $500,000 to more than 100 non-profit organizations in our service area.
