Habitat For Humanity
Kitsap Bank is committed to helping create more affordable housing options. As part of that commitment, September was designated “Habitat Month” at Kitsap Bank. In just one month, Kitsap Bank and its customers raised nearly $20,000 for Habitat For Humanity. Combined with the bank’s corporate donations, we contributed over $42,000 in 2017 to Habitat affiliates in Kitsap, Mason, Jefferson, Clallam and Pierce counties. Additionally, employees participated in Habitat Build Days, and two brave souls even went over the edge of the Hotel Murano to help raise funds and awareness for this important cause.
Edg3 Fund
2017 marked Kitsap Bank’s fourth year with its edg3 FUND small business competition, established to provide funding for entrepreneurs dedicated to growing their community economically, socially and environmentally.
After a public vote and private judging helped narrow the field of applicants, five finalists vied for the $20,000 grand prize in front of a live audience and a panel of independent judges.
Ultimately, the judges selected Home Made Café of Port Orchard for the $20,000 prize. The owners’ experiences with their daughter’s food allergies motivated them to create a café where people could experience a meal made from scratch with quality, non-processed ingredients.
For the second time, Kitsap Bank awarded the Community edg3 Award, a $5,000 prize given to one edg3 FUND Semifinalist whose company best embodies the spirit of community. Cascade Hygiene of Bremerton, a mobile dental hygiene service providing dental services to anyone with limited access to care, was awarded the prize.
