Earth Day

At Kitsap Bank we believe in being good stewards of the resources entrusted to us by our customers, our community and our environment. Each year Kitsap Bank employees and their families take on an Earth Day project, actively contributing to making our communities an even better place to live and work. In 2019 we turned to our hometown—Port Orchard—for our annual project. Nearly 200 Kitsap Bankers and their families gathered downtown to clean flowerbeds, spread mulch, plant flowers, and more.

On a Mission to
#causegood

Giving back to our communities means more to us than just writing a check. At Kitsap Bank, our employees actively live the #causegood mission every day by volunteering with the non-profits that are near and dear to their hearts. We’re proud to support their efforts by offering employees paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) each year to volunteer at the non-profit of their choice. In 2019, Kitsap Bank employees volunteered nearly 5,000 hours!

Valentine’s Day a.k.a. MAD Money Day

In addition to VTO, for every hour that our employees volunteer, Kitsap Bank makes a donation in their name to the non-profit of their choice. Each Valentine’s Day we surprise area non-profits with a combined $15,000 in these MAD (Making a Difference in our Community) Money donations on our employee’s behalf. It’s our Valentine to our community—a little added thank you for everything they do to #causegood in the communities we love.

Feedback from our Partners

“Thank you and all of the Kitsap employee volunteers who chose Jumping Mouse! What a delightful surprise donation to receive on Valentine’s Day!  Thank you for all Kitsap does supporting the kids at Jumping Mouse, it is because of you all that we get to help heal so many children and their families!”

edg3 FUND

2019 marked Kitsap Bank’s sixth year with its edg3 FUND small business competition, established to provide funding for entrepreneurs dedicated to growing their community economically, socially and environmentally. After a public vote and private judging helped narrow the field of applicants, five finalists vied for the $25,000 grand prize in front of a live audience and a panel of independent judges.

The judges ultimately selected Fuchsia Shoes for the $25,000 prize.

Fuchsia Shoes

Owned by Afshan Abbas, Fuchsia Shoes is a direct-to-consumer brand of artisanal products, selling beautifully handcrafted ballet flats, cashmere scarves and accessories. Fuchsia works with small scale industry artisans in developing countries who lack access to global markets. By making high quality shoes for Fuchsia, artisans make a livable wage—about three times more than what they would normally make. Fuchsia Shoes sources all premium quality raw material locally and uses sustainable materials like recycled denim, jute and organic cotton.

Kitsap Bank also awarded the Community edg3 Award, a $5,000 prize given to one edg3 FUND Semifinalist whose company best embodies the spirit of community. Village Greens Golf Course of Port Orchard was selected as the winner. Watch Video
